Neuropsychology
Our neuropsychological assessments delineate a roadmap for staff to understand the reasons behind cognitive issues, emotional disturbances, and behavioral problems of residents along with specific recommendations for care and interdisciplinary treatment. The assessment can explain the way neurological disorders such as stroke, brain injury, diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease reduce brain functioning and affect the resident in managing their day-to-day responsibilities, controlling their emotions, or presenting behavioral difficulties.
Capacity to Make Decisions:
Psychotropic medication consent

Consent to treatment

Leave AMA
Neuropsychological evaluations assess the resident’s mental health functioning, memory abilities, comprehension, judgement and reasoning and identify “red flags” based on the pattern of cognitive impairments to determine whether residents are capable of making independent healthcare decisions.

Treatment & Care Plans:
Psychotic disorders

Mood disorders

Trauma

Anxiety
A neuropsychological evaluation helps staff develop tailored treatment plans based on the resident’s cognitive and mental health strengths and weaknesses.

Our reports provided specific nonpharmacological strategies to manage cognitive mood and behavior issues. They also address pharmacological treatment, if needed.

Discharge Planning:
Appropriate level of care

Safety recommendations

Outpatient follow up
Can the resident go home and manage their affairs, or would they need help? Would they need 24-hour-supervision? Can they discharge to board and care? Can they discharge to a memory care? Can they go back to an Assisted Living Facility? Neuropsychological assessments provide recommendations for appropriate and safe discharge planning.

Differential Diagnosis:
Schizophrenia

Bipolar

Dementia

Behavioral Problems
Neuropsychological assessments can pinpoint the underlying cause(s) of cognitive and mental health problems and help establish appropriate treatments for each diagnosis that include pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions.

Conservatorship:
Conservatorship types

Public Guardian

POA

Can a resident manage healthcare and financial decisions and advocate for themselves? Does the person need to be conserved or need a public guardian? Can the resident assign POA? Neuropsychological evaluations can answer these questions. A neuropsychologist can fill and sign the GC-335 form for conservatorship and help maintain conservatorship status with annual re-evaluations.

psychology
Our psychological services help promote wellness by supporting residents with an understanding of their individual needs and experiences. We identify and address barriers to mental health that can impact physical wellbeing.
Diagnostic Assessment
Our initial assessment includes a clinical interview and measure of psychological symptoms such as depression and anxiety. This combined with medical history and information observed from staff identify the therapeutic needs and objectives for the resident and document a baseline to evaluate progress.
treatment
Residents often face debilitating health conditions, pre-existing mental health challenges and adjustment difficulties. Treatment is offered in the form of individual psychotherapy to address problems like anxiety, depression, pain, mood, psychosis, loss and bereavement, existential and interpersonal difficulties.
Family support
Our therapists can provide inpatient family education and therapy. These sessions provide support for the resident though increasing awareness of conditions, ways for family to stay involved in the resident’s wellbeing and identification of family related barriers and concerns.
